Running of the Wieners 2009

Running of the Wieners was held on Sunday, September 20 on a packed ballfield.  Over 100 of the long dogs took their turn on the ninety foot track.  We would like to brag alittle bit about how far these dachshunds traveled:  Monument, CO (457 miles), Wheatland, WY (436), Torrington, WY (369), Morrill, NE (354 miles), Crawford, NE (331), Holt, MO (293) and Ainsworth (180).  These racers came in from Omaha on the east and North Platte on the west.  We had another great show hosted by Dave Hulinsky of Complete Music and would like to thank him for his time (and equipment!).   More thanks:  PMI for J&J Pony Rides, Tom Williams and Islander Early Bird, Nebraska Dachshund Rescue, Bill Baasch for the historical stage coach display, Vet Care for best dressed and cutest couple costume contest,  Scott Sahling for the National Anthem, GI Women's Club Bake Sale,  Coca-Cola, 7 Up Bottling Group and our many loyal volunteers who help make The Running of the Wieners such a successful event.
